Silent Hill Warhammer Unit

Description

NOTE! I did not make all this from scratch!
I used modeling putty to modify some generic Warhammer Fantasy models to make these.
(they are bout an 2 to 3 inches tall)

Tools used: Games workshop “green stuff” modeling putty, one really poor substitute for a modeling knife, files, and sandpaper.

The how I did it section for the Pyramid Heads in the background can be found on their own pictures in my gallery.

The Leg Mosters were pretty easy to make, Just model some legs instead of arms and use the Foot in the zombie spruce (the one that one of the arms in the spruce is using for a weapon) if you want feet on the legs. Then file off the evidence of the pants the zombie was wearing. And then when you are finished….wonder if you really should have made this after all…..because it just looks….wrong =P

The straight jacket ones were fairly easy, just get some of the old Warhammer skeletons stretch some modeling putty across them and try and make it look like they are stretching the jacket, and make them knock kneed.

This is the breakdown on the Silent Hill Nurse:

I started with Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy male zombie for the starting point.

At this point my brother in law said:
“Just put some jugs on it and a nurse hat and you will be done”

But I knew that was not going to cut it. It takes more than that to make a male zombie look like a Silent Hill 2 nurse!
So I filed the incredibly square shaped zombie into a more feminine shape by taking off a lot of the waist (to give the illusion of hips), and tried to make the arms more slender by filing down as much of the arm diameter as I could. Then I took each hand down to 4 fingers so the hands would seem smaller.
At first I was going to give it the pipe weapon, but I ended up going with the broken glass/knife so it would look more intimidating sense it was the unit captain.

I know the Nurses in the game dont have knee high heeled black boots in the game, but I was not confidant enough to make full length legs yet from scratch so knee highs is what she got. (also I was not sure if 20th century high heeled shoes would make this model look out of place on a medieval battlefield).
The face was not that hard, I went with the Silent Hill Movie version of the head for simplicity.
Last but not least was the…ummm..upper torso adjustment. I really tried to not go overboard on this because the ones in Silent hill 2 are actually pretty flat.
Then I made the clothes by rolling out the modeling putty into a small sheet and cutting out the sections needed. Then just modeled the strips into place. Then I rolled out some really thin strips to make the trim and belt.

I almost lost my mind trying to make the hat though. From most angles it just looks like I just make a C shaped blob and stuck it on, but the top corners really are pointed and on a different plane that the bottom corners.

As for paint, I had just painted about 20 Leg monsters so I had the skin tone down, and it was just a mater of using shades of brown. It really looks like the ones in the SH2 publicity pictures have greenish shirts on…
